Professor Andrew Shelling is Director of Research for the Centre for Cancer Research/Te Aka MÄtauranga Matepukupuku. His research is primarily interested in understanding the molecular changes that occur during the development of genetic disorders, focusing on breast and gynaecological cancer, and reproductive disorders.
Andrew began at Otago University with a degree in Physical Education and PhD in Biochemistry. He spent three years in Oxford, UK, as a Nuffield Medical Fellow, studying the genetics of ovarian cancer, before being appointed to Auckland University in 1996. Andrew has served as Associate Dean (Research) at the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences (2013-2023). He is currently on the Editorial Board for the Human Reproduction Update and Clinical Genetics journals, on the Board of Breast Cancer Cure and Trustee for the Nurture Foundation for Reproductive Research.
